Technological Institute of Peloponnese


The Technological Institute of Kalamata is one of the 15 Technological Educational Institutes established in Greece. It is the most important and rapidly developing educational and research centre in this region of the Peloponnese. The first department of the TEI of Kalamata was the Electrical Engineering Department which started its operation in the spring semester of the academic year 1987-88.

The Presidential Decree  502/1989/ΦΕΚ215/3.10.1989/τ.Α annulled the off-campus faculty of the TEI of Patras in Kalamata and established the TEI of Kalamata with the following two schools:

  1. School of Agricultural Technology
  2. School of Management and Economy

At the time of their establishment, the two Schools consisted of the following departments:

  1. School of AGricultural Technology
    1. Department of Crop Production
    2. Department of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture
  2. School of Management and Economy
    1. Department of Health and Welfare Unit Management
    2. Department of Local Government

The Departments of Crop Production and Health & Welfare Unit Management first operated in the spring semester of the academic year 1989-90. The Departments of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture and of Local Government first operated in the fall semester of the academic year 1993-94.vThe Presidential Decree ΦΕΚ/ 179/6.9.1999/τ.Α΄/ΠΔ 200/1999 founded two new departments at the TEI of Kalamata, one in each School:

  1. The Department of Agricultural Product Technology within the School of Agricultural Technology which began operating in the fall semester of the academic year 2000-1,
  2. The Department of Finance and Auditing at the School of Management and Economy which began operating in the fall semester of the academic year 1999-2000.

Finally in accordance with the Presidential Decree 211/ΦΕΚ 189/14-10-2004/τ.Α΄, the TEI of Kalamata established the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications as an off-campus department at Sparti, Lakonia.For more information about the Technological Institute of Peloponnese please click on the link below:
